About us

Inspired by Missoula’s exciting craft beer scene and the breathtaking flatwater sections of the Blackfoot, Clark Fork, and Bitterroot Rivers accessible right from Missoula, Noah Sohl and Drew Mozzer founded River City Brews in 2017. With one boat (the SS Tarakoia), a van (Pearl), and some amazing community partners, RCB’s first two seasons were a smashing success.

Since then, RCB has grown to include another guide, and a second boat (the SS Balsamroot), and van (The Oyster), and more community partners than ever. But the goal has never changed: we work to deliver beautiful, relaxing, delicious, and educational trips down the river to Missoulians and visitors alike. We believe in community, activism, conservation, and good beer.

Let’s go boating!

Noah Sohl

Co-owner/lead bug enthusiast

Noah has been skipping rocks on the Clark Fork River shores of Missoula for a decade. Growing up rafting/fish finding in the Rogue Valley in Oregon, he is very familiar with long river days. If he’s not landscaping or telling Koia (his dog) to drop it, you can find him enjoying the outdoors with his friends and family.

Drew Mozzer

Co-owner/rootbeer float technician

Drew grew up in the Northeast sailing the ocean, learning building skills and smashing opponents on the hockey rink. Shortly after moving to Missoula, in 2013, he got hooked on the river scene. Now, you’ll often find him down by the river keeping it cool with Fridge and Rosie (yes, both are dogs).

Our Community Partners

Riversong Gourmet

Are you orginazing a wedding or other raucous event and need the valley’s most delicious catered food? It’s time to call Riversong Gourmet and let them manage your meal. Better yet, call us and see about a catered riverside meal including a float of course. Thanks a bunch to Riversong Gourmet for space in their commercial kitchen these last couple years!

Neff’s Whitewater Customs

This guy is a legend in our book, and if you spend enough time on the river you will see his custom frames here and there. He is mostly busy with commercial projects these days but found time to make two incredible custom one-of-a-kind frames.

Missoula Grain and Vegetable Co.

Our friends down in the Bitterroot who grow the world’s tastiest carrots and salad turnips and so much more! You can find these fine folks at the Missoula, Helena, and Hamilton Markets. Or, you can come float with us and were likely to serve you something crunchy, delicious, and tasty straight from their farm.

SOTAR

State-Of-The-Art-Rafts. That’s right. It is true. These people down by the Rogue River of Southern Oregon have been at it for over 40 years and they know how to make a boat! So we got two! We rock our original 18 foot ST and our new 14 foot ST. If you want comfort, durability and good looks all in one, this is your kind of raft.

Lifeline Farm Creamery

More Bitterroot farming friends! These people know organic meat and dairy. Thats why we source our meat and cheese from them for our evening floats. You can find them at the Missoula Farmers market or visit their farm store in Victor, about 25 miles south of Missoula!

Sawyer Paddles and Oars

Another Southern Oregon classic, Sawyer makes oars with the quality to match our Sotar boats. If you are ever near Gold Hill, Oregon (near Medford), go check out their shop. Whether you are rowing an antique drift boat or a brand new SUP, they have the water moving device you need.
